Changes to the traffic conditions on Physics Road

One way Physics Road

From Saturday 27 September, Physics Road, Camperdown Campus, will only be open to one way traffic, from Western Avenue to Fisher Road.

New signage will be erected around the area, informing all motorists of the change in traffic conditions. Students and staff are requested to plan their trips in anticipation of the altered circumstances.

Managing the traffic flows and volumes is an ongoing challenge for us and one of which we are addressing. The University understands that transport and traffic to and from the University has both environmental and community impacts. As we move towards a more environmentally friendly and sustainable campus, we are giving priority to pedestrian traffic and cyclists.

As a result of the change in traffic conditions, the University aims to increase the safety of pedestrian traffic and cyclists, while improving circulation flow around the campus.

As part of the University’s traffic management strategy, the University engaged with an external traffic consultant, to asses the area and provide recommendations for the future of Physics Road.
