Footbridge crossing City Road demolished 27 October 2007
Notice: Darlington 003 25/10/07 - Footbridge demolition
WORKS
As part of the Campus 2010 redevelopment, the Keith J Murray footbridge crossing City Road will be dismantled and removed this weekend to let construction begin on the new footbridge between the Darlington and Camperdown campuses.
The construction of the new bridge will start immediately after the demolition of the existing one and it will link Sydney Central with Eastern Avenue. The new bridge is due to open in March 2008.
The RTA will monitor the volume of vehicle traffic and pedestrians at the City Road intersection, and if necessary, will alter the timing of the traffic light sequence to make sure that everything moves smoothly.

At close of business, the contractors close the footbridge to pedestrians from Eastern Avenue and from the Wentworth building and fences will be put up to prevent people from entering this new construction area. From this time, all pedestrians will need to cross City Road at the traffic lights.
The diagram below illustrates the available pedestrian routes.

At 10pm, the RTA closes City Rd to vehicle traffic and a crane is brought in to lift sections of the bridge onto trucks to take away.
City Rd will re-open to traffic Sunday morning around 10am.
WENTWORTH BUILDING
All the current entrances and exits to Wentworth will be open, except for the exit to the footbridge. All the shops, food outlets and other retail businesses are open in Wentworth building while the footbridge is out of commission, so please continue to support them during this part of the construction program. A map showing pedestrian routes through Wentworth building to the intersection of City Rd and Butlin Avenue is on the Campus 2010 website.
