Overseas mail is collectected with the domestic external mail on the mail run.
How to use:
Although the overseas mail is collected with the rest of the external mail it is necessary to have all international mail bundled up seperately to the domestic external mail. This speeds up the sorting and processing times. All printed matter being posted overseas is handled by DHL couriers and requires no customs declaration. Any non-document items are sent via airmail through Australia Post. These items require customs declarations fixed to the parcel before they can be posted.

Any FAQs / How-tos:
Q. Where do I get customs forms from? A. Contact the mail room on ext 12424 or visit the Post Office on Science Road. Q. What's the difference between OCS and DHL? A. OCS (Overseas Courier Service) and DHL are commonly confused. DHL is the current preferred carrier of international mail (as of Feb 2002). OCS was the previous company that had the contract and the mail room no longer uses them. Therefore there is no need to write OCS on international mail. Q. How long does international mail take? A. DHL & Australia Post Airmail take 5-8 working days depending on destination. Australia Post's Economy Air service takes 3-4 weeks. Sea mail takes 2-3 months and is a restricted service. Contact the mail room for more information if required. |
