DESCRIPTION
|
This project includes conservation work to the northern façade (1909 – 22) and new entrance terrace to improve access. The conservation works are the replacement of the existing slate roof with new slate sourced from Canada. The cleaning, raking out and repointing of existing stonework joints. The replacement of a number of parapet and gargoyle stones. The treatment of effected stone with poultice to remove salt from effected areas. The cleaning, repair and painting of existing windows. The replacement stone is being supplied out of the NSW Government’s sandstone reserve for state listed heritage buildings for which the original quarries are no longer in existence. The NSW Department of Commerce. The project commenced construction in January 2006, and is due for completion in September. |
