CAD Systems
The CAD Systems team provides CIS and the University with the technology solutions for managing over 500 buildings spread over 14 campuses and for managing the numerous repairs, refurbishments and capital developments.
The team provides CAD drawings and space management information to CIS, the faculties and other University business units.
Functions include:
Campus maps
Create and maintain all campus maps for inclusion in the faculty handbooks and on USYD websites. Liaison with UBD & Sydways street directories is required twice a year to keep the University of Sydney's maps up-to-date.
Evacuation maps
Create and maintain statutory evacuation maps for University buildings.
Building survey documentation
Buildings, including roofs and services, continually surveyed and updated into our CAD systems. This information is used for maintenance and planning.
Ground survey
Similar to the building surveys, all University grounds are surveyed to identify all hydraulic services underground (water, storm water and sewer), electrical and technology services, as well as public areas, trees, ovals, etc
Technology in the field
For example; technology to assist cleaning inspectors in the field to receive and respond to work requests via PDAs linked directly to our core systems via the 3G network. This data can be used to measure performance KPI of contractors as well as vastly improving communication and workflow.
ARCHIBUS and interfaces
CIS’s core system is an Archibus platform. However, it interfaces with a number of other systems both within the University, eg PIMS (project financial control), PeopleSoft and Hyperion (ledger and reporting) and outside of the University.
The interface with Pronto (used by Hirotec, our external facilities manager’s system) is in final stages of testing.
