The future - 2020 and beyond

The essential nature of universities across the world is changing rapidly with the emergence of new learning and teaching methods, the increase in cross-disciplinary research and changing student, staff, community and business partner expectations.
To ensure the University of Sydney reaches and attains its 1:5:40 ambition we have extended our vision for the campus out to the year 2020 when the University will celebrate its 175th anniversary.
A number of new projects are already planned to follow the completion of Campus 2010 and will continue with the introduction of world-class infrastructure and facilities across the University:
- Sydney Institutes of Health and Medical Research Building (SIHMR)
- Economics and Business precinct
- Ross Street redevelopment
- Brain & Mind Research Institute/ Hospital development
- Royal North Shore Hospital - Research and Education Building
- Nepean Hospital - Multidisciplinary Education and Research Building
The existing buildings have not been forgotten either. In 2006 a comprehensive assessment of the condition of all current campus buildings was completed. This allowed the development of a comprehensive repairs and maintenance plan and a Capital Upgrade Program, launched in early 2007 which covers:
- General teaching space
- Laboratories
- Lifts
- Audio-visual infrastructure
- Buildings - focusing on the external fabric of buildings, major internal public areas and upgraded infrastructure.
