The vision
The Eastern Avenue gardens will complete the transformation of the area and have been designed to reflect key elements of the campus.
The newly installed lawns and gardens will provide more areas for recreation and outdoor research and learning via the wireless communications network.
To mark the School of Geosciences' new home in the Madsen building, a geologic garden will be planted with prehistoric plant species such as cycads (above) and furnished with stone benches, representing Australia’s geographical diversity.
In contrast, the garden in front of the Andersen Stuart building will be open with grass panels, emphasising the building’s classic façade and creating a visual connection with Victoria Park
The works

Once the Eastern Avenue Boulevard is completed, the remaining areas, which were used for access during Stage 1 will be landscaped. The areas in front of Chemistry and Madsen will be closed off, however access will remain via temporary walkways.
Stage 2 will add the finishing touches to the Eastern Avenue Boulevard and complete the works in this area.

The impact
For vehicles
The re-direction of vehicular traffic along Fisher Road will continue
unchanged from Stage 1. See the Vehicle Access Map for details.
Disabled parking will be relocated from the front of the Madsen building to the carpark between to the City Road Gatekeepers Lodge and the Madsen building.
For pedestrians
The newly completed Eastern Avenue Boulevard will be the main thoroughfare for pedestrians. Access to Madsen, Andersen Stuart and Chemistry buildings will be via temporary walkways similar to Stage 1. Pedestrian Access Map
For deliveries
Loading zones will continue to be available for each of the buildings in the vicinity of the works. Map of building access points
For emergency vehicles
Local emergency services have been briefed on the changes to vehicle access on the Camperdown campus. Naturally, in case of an emergency, should Eastern Avenue be the quickest route, emergency vehicle access will be a priority.
