Eastern Avenue recycled
Posted 02.05.07
The majority of materials removed from Eastern Avenue during the excavation have been recycled. This includes the trees, bitumen, cement and even the waste paper bins.
The trees were sent to Mullumbimby Timber Works to be milled. Once completed, they will be retruned to the University to the School of Architecture to be used in student projects.
The concrete was incorporated into a 40:70 recyled mix, some of which was used to create the ramp entrance of the Law School site.
All other materials are taken to recyclers for sorting and then material such as the bitumen, metal etc. is re-used in other projects where possible.
