Eastern Avenue now closed to vehicles

Posted 24.4.07
Eastern Avenue was closed to vehicles on Saturday 14 April 2007 as work began to transform it into a pedestrian boulevard. All traffic has been re-directed along Fisher Road where safety precautions such as traffic calming devices and no standing zones assist the smooth flow of traffic. Pedestrians should be mindful of the increased volume of traffic when walking along Fisher Road.

New parking arrangements - Camperdown campus

Posted 24.4.07
With the closing of Eastern Avenue, approximately 200 car spaces were removed. Additional parking is available in the Shepherd Street car park adjacent to the School of Information Technologies building on Cleveland Street. A shuttle bus will run from the Shepherd Street parking station from 7am to 10.15am Monday to Friday (except for public holidays) until further notice. The bus will travel from the parking station to the Quadrangle and Fisher library on a continuous loop at about 10-12 minute intervals. You can catch the bus at Blackwattle Creek Lane at the Shepherd Street Gate (adjacent to the Aeronautical Engineering Building) with set downs at Madsen Bldg, Manning Road, Great Hall and Fisher Library. Disabled parking is available at the front of the Madsen building.

Once the Law School building is completed, an additional 400+ parking spaces will become available in the car park under the building.

Recycling Eastern Avenue

Most of the material that made up Eastern Avenue is being recycled. The bitumen and cement from the road, the pavement and kerbs and the timber from the trees have all been taken away by the building contractors and will be reused in other projects.
