-1999 - 2002 -

Since May 1999, the Facilities Management Office (FMO) Service Desk has been the point of contact either by telephone, fax or e-mail for all facilities enquiries, (e.g. cleaning, maintenance, grounds, projects, security) for the Camperdown, Darlington, Burren St, Mallet St., Rozelle & St. James Campuses.

In an effort to improve access to the Service Desk, FMO developed the e~Service Desk which went into operation on Monday the 10th of December 2001. This 24 hour web enabled facility allowed University Staff to lodge & review facilities related work requests directly from their desktop computers, anytime anywhere.

The e~Service Desk was rolled out to the Cumberland & Orange campuses in September 2002, part of the ARCHIBUS/FM migration project - a collaboration between FMO,MPG, ITS & ICAD.

- 16 June 2003 -

e~Service Desk Upgrade - As part of the University's Facilities Management Information Systems (FMIS) strategic plan, the e~Service Desk's g(raphical) u(ser) i(nterface) has undergone a major transformation, turning it into a web portal for FM related services. In the near future, 'authorised' users will be able to, through a single login, access Work Requests, View & Print drawings related to buildings or sites, review & submit updates of Space related information as well as check what projects are proposed/underway in their building, etc.

The 1st stage of the current upgrade, which was launched today, involves Work Requests for all users as well as Asset Management for selected users from Camperdown/Darlington, Cumberland & Orange campuses (facilities related assets in order to carry out corrective & preventive maintenance). Stay tuned for more news in the near future.

- 15 January 2004 - 1) It is no longer required to have an entry in the university electronic phone book in order to access the e~Service Desk as long as you have a valid UniKey login and password.
  2) The address in the create Work Request form has changed to reflect the information coming from the space module in ARCHIBUS/FM. Soon users will be able to update their own data in a similar way to updating the electronic phone book.
